Privileged Access Setting - What does it Do?

In the new O365 Admin Center, Settings section, Security & Privacy Page, there is a Privileged Access setting. I cannot find any documentation about its purpose and what is affected when it is enabled. Can anyone provide me with some assistance?

Thanks, that was my guess, but I wasn't sure since I could not find anything in the official docs for the Admin Center.
