Outlook Autocomplete showing previous users

About 14 days ago, one of my customers reported that the autofill was reverting back to user’s who had left the company or changed roll. Some left almost 2 years ago. Up until about 14 days ago it was showing the current users. Deleting the user from the drop down does not sort this.  At least 20 users have this problem.

 

Support told me to delete the entries and did a remote session, but it’s not worked. It works ok on webmail so they are now saying it’s not an Office 365 issue. I dispute this as suddenly 20 computer have this issue and today another totally different customer is now reporting they have the problem.

 

Can anyone please offer any advice?

 

They all have the latest version of Office 365 business premium.

Doesn't the document's section "How to clear the whole AutoComplete list" work? Very strange...

What happens, exactly?

Deleting a single entry does not work. It still reverts back to the old user. Sorry, I should have said I have not tried to clear the whole Autocomplete list as the the customer would not be happy about this.
