Old O365 subscriptions does not include Teams

Brass Contributor

I have a customer who recently found out that their old 365 subscriptions do not include Teams service.  They were told to either migrate to another tenant or cancel the old subscriptions (with mailboxes) for 3 days, and that will purge those old ones out.  My question is if they do the later, will the new improved subscriptions be available to them?

No, your customer does not need to migrate to another tenant or anything else.
Just buy an E1 license and add it to the existing tenant.
thanks so much!
After a while will he be able to downgrade to standard?
Yes, after you assign the E1 license to all users, you can then remove the other licenses, and cancel the other subscriptions.

There was another solution that was implemented along the same line and seems to be working as of now.

  • Assign all users the new  Microsoft 365 Business Standard
  • Have support put the old Office 365 Business Premium into grace period
