Is there a way to remove apps from the new office portal page

And also is the removal of app tiles from app launcher still possible only via disabling the service in the license page?

The standard controls should apply here, afaik. Built-in apps are tied to the license assigned to user, gallery apps are assigned via app spaces and can also be "pinned".
