If you remove Exchange license from O365 user, how long will mail data be retained?
We tried to remove license from one user synced from AAD connect
- no mail icon in portal.office.com
- can access mailbox and send recive mails in outlook.office365.com
any explanation for this?

Data will be retained for up to 30 days, but the user will lose access to email almost immediately. That's assuming you haven't put him on any type of hold, as hold will prevent the deprovisioning.
