Hybrid Exchange

Copper Contributor

We have just configured our email systems to hybrid. We have Exchange 2016 On-Prem and at the same time Office365 Online. We are planning to flip our DNS to point our email system to office365 online. If we do it, would the email intended to onprem will pass to Office365 protection first before sending it to onprem would the email be sent directly to onprem?

Hi @LyndonC

Provided Hybrid is set up correctly, then yes. Point your MX to your 365 and all mailflow will go through spam checks before being routed through to your on-prem Exchange.

Spoiler

@HidMov even without the O365 license for the email intended to?

Solution

@LyndonC My understanding is the On-Prem users will require a Exchange Online Protection Licence in that scenario
