High-resolution photos in Skype for Business

Copper Contributor

Hi Community!

I'm trying to push High Resolution pictures for my users with a Set-UserPhoto.

It seems to work great, the sync is quick between all Office products (Sharepoint included).

But the picture which is displayed during a Skype call is fluzzy and pixelized .. For sure, it's not the High Res which is used.

How can I troubleshoot that situation ?

Another question : According to MS, a thumbnailphoto attribute in AD should be generated after the push in Exchange Online, but I never saw it. Is it normal ?

Thanks in advance

Hey Jeremy,

I found several articles, which can hopefully help some.

This article has some great steps which can hopefully help you figure out where you are:

https://docs.microsoft.com/en-us/skypeforbusiness/deploy/integrate-with-exchange-server/high-resolut...

I am guessing the picture you are uploading is being resized down based on the max size, and based on if they are on the web client that deems the size.

This blog has good advice as a whole to recommendations for uploading pictures to the cloud:

It looks as though you cannot set the picture size when going through powershell, and it is cropping and editing your pictures for you. It seems to me the best practice would be to edit the pictures yourself down to 648x648, an that would give you the best results.

Once uploaded, you should be able to follow the steps lists in the first Microsoft doc and view them to see if it looks any better.

Goodluck!
