Getting Microsoft 365 data migrated across geo-locations?

Iron Contributor

I have a client that was previous an Australian registered entity, using AUS based datacenters for M365, but they have now relocated the entire company to the U.S. and I need to have all their M365 data relocated to North American Microsoft datacenters, for both latency and regulatory purposes.

Is this something that I can request to Microsoft Support, and does it happen transparently in the background with no additional requirements on the client front end?

Hi, if I'm reading this correctly, your customer has not migrated to a new tenant, they merely wish to change where their data resides in their existing tenant?

If so, please take a look at - https://docs.microsoft.com/en-us/office365/enterprise/request-your-data-move

Hi @PeterRising,

Yep that's correct.   Just want to move the tenant data from AUS to USA.

Thanks for pointing me in the right direction with that link!
