Exchange 2010 migration to o365

Copper Contributor

Hi

I am looking to migrate 5 mailboxes from exchange 2010 on premise server to

office 365 in the cloud, and eventually remove/ shutdown my exchange server and work cloud only .

Some things to take in mind: one of my users has a 42 gb mailbox...

What is the best way to migrate ? should I use third party software - like bittitan?

And how can I deal with the large mailbox of 42 gb?

Thanks

Omer

Hi! Please see the following documentation for what kind of migrations you can do with office 365! Using third party tool feels overkill for 5 mailboxes!
Also only doing 5 mailboxes seems like it’s better to export 5 pst files from the clients, provision users and licenses in 365, import the pst’s then change dns records to office 365

For this kind of migration the best option is to use Cutover process described on the documentation.

The process is strait, and is the best solution to your migration.

Yes! Was about to say! From these 3 the cut over is the one to go with
Adam thanks for your response.
One of the users mailbox has a size of 42 giga...
Even if I export it to a pst file ...
Wont that be a problem because of the large file size?

Hi @orrtech,

A PST can be corrupt, is advised that you use the Cutover because the transfer is from your Exchange On-Prem to Exchange Online and using the PST could have issues like corruption a deltas.

yeah! I do agree with @Nuno Silva

I've done both successfully but the cut-over is a safer shot
