Can a Global security group be a distribute group?

Iron Contributor

Hi,

To create a security group also an email distribute group, I usually go to on-premise Exchange server and create a security group. I noticed the group will show up as a universal security group in the Active director. For some reason, I need to convert this group to a global security group, my question is if a global security group still be a distribute group Office 365? Will this change affect the DL function?

Please help!

Thanks in advance!

If your domain is flat with single forest you can probably get away with it, but microsoft won't support the use of global groups as dist. lists.

Hi Christopher,

Thank you for your reply. We have single domain, but if Microsoft not support it, I don't want to risk it.

That's too bad. The FGPP can only apply to global security group, thus I have to create a global group with the same members as the universal group.

Thanks again,
