A few questions regarding to migrating from GSuite to Office 365.

Copper Contributor

Hi guys,

Thanks in advance. The following is our current setup and beneath it is what we would like to achieve.

Current setup:

  • These are the 2 domains in question; '000.org' and '000.org.tw'
  • Both DNSs are managed by Azure.
  • '000.org' is used for Office 365 service only.
  • '000.org.tw' is used for organization website (hosted on Azure) and GSuite service.

Goal:

  • Is it possible to keep '000.org.tw' as login credential for both GSuite and Office 365?
  • If the above-mentioned is not possible and could only use '000.org.tw' for Office 365. What happens to GSuite after migration? Will we still be able to login to GSuite with '000.org.tw' credentials?

Thanks a bunch,

Jack

Is it possible to keep '000.org.tw' as login credential for both GSuite and Office 365?

No, because they are two separate platforms O365 - portal.office.com and you will login with the '000.org' domain only since all the user accounts are in AD for that domain.

For, Gsuite you will go to gsuite.google.com and login with your '000.org.tw' email extenstion and all AD accounts are tied to that domain.

If the above-mentioned is not possible and could only use '000.org.tw' for Office 365. What happens to GSuite after migration? Will we still be able to login to GSuite with '000.org.tw' credentials?

You will need to add '000.org.tw' as an accepted domain in O365 and authorize it. You can pull up articles on how to add accepted domains in Office 365. Once you do so then all you need to do is to get the .PST files and import the .pst via protection.microsoft.com > information governance > import for the email portion.

Your users will not be able to login to Gsuite since the domain will point to O365. You will need to actively cancel your GSuite subscription.
