Marc will probably have more specifics but this is the page to keep an eye on if it's not something you have checked out already-
To answer some of your questions, this part confirms the following:
"Microsoft will transition all videos, channels, and permissions from Office 365 Video into Stream. After the transition, existing Office 365 Video embed codes and links to videos will still work, redirecting to the same content in Stream."
So your investment in Office 365 Video will carry on into Microsoft Stream once the transition is completed. The Office 365 Admin center is indeed where these details will be communicated as things progress. Hopefully, also Microsoft Stream items will be added to the Office 365 Roadmap which now features estimated release dates, which will help customers track new features etc.

Is there a specific reason or feature for why you initially landed in O365 Video rather than Stream?

@Mandy Clark - We are still finishing up work on the migration code to be able to move O365 Video to Stream. We are hoping within a month or so we'll be able to start moving 10-20 customers with this code by triggering it via the back end. After we work through the first 10-20 customers we'll open it up via the UI to have admins at customer sites be able to trigger the migration assistant themselves.
We've run into delays due to complexity of this work across both O365 Video, SharePoint, and Stream's code base and due to time constraints as we are doing this work in addition to keeping O365 Video running and functioning correctly.
We should be posting a survey in the coming weeks asking for customers who want to be considered to be in that first 10-20 customers we start the migration with.

As a general comment, I don't feel as if the O365 Video to Stream Migration piece has been communicated at all well.
Of particular concern is the lack of API access. Could we get a definitive date as to when these will be available so we can plan our migration project?
These major features are offered in Office 365 Video but are currently not available in Stream: What are the current timescales as to when these will be made available?

We are still working on our migration service to be able to migrate content. We'll hopefully start with about 10-20 customers running through the migration in the next couple of months. After that and we finish up the UI we'll offer a migration assistant for admins to opt in.
We haven't communicated more lately because we are heads down trying to finish up the development to make it work. When we are closer to being ready we'll update the documentation on the stream help docs, start sending out admin message center posts, etc.
We don't have hard timelines on the features you mentioned below but I can give you a sense of where we are with each of those.
> We are trying to figure out a path with the enterprise search team that powers all of the above. There isn't a direct path we can take on getting our Stream content indexed so it can be surfaced. We are having discussions and figuring out how best to do this across our teams.
> This is on our roadmap. I'm hoping we start on it 2018 Q2/Q3.
> This is on our roadmap. We didn't have room for 2018 Q1, but we are working on live video stats and are designing that so it can accommodate VOD stats as well. So I'm hoping we'll be able to pick this up for 2018 Q2.
>Spotlight videos on the home page of Stream are done now and in product. Spotlight videos on a group are being worked on. I don't know if we'll end up doing spotlight channels on the stream homepage or not. Thoughts?
>We are going to be supporting Hive/Kollective/Ramp as our SDN providers to start with. We are discussing with them how we integrate them into Stream. I'm hoping development of this starts in 2018 Q2 or sooner.

Any update on when O365 Video migration will be available. We have a tenant in Australia we’re keen to move to Stream ASAP.

I am still no further forward in understanding when we will be migrated. The key element for us is the availability of the REST APIs. We need to plan work packages and developer resource.
Does anyone have any further updates?
Joost Koopmans has asked about the following features that should have gone live in Stream at the end of 2017:
It seems these features have not yet been released. I also cannot find them back on roadmap.office.com. Is there a new planning available somewhere?

I was told last week in June we would get notified in the Admin centre about how to migrate our content so perhaps you are in the same time frame.

Any updates on O365 Video to Stream migration? Did the small number of customers migrate as mentioned above?

Is there any indication of when the transition is happening?
There is absolutely no communication and all the articles on this are old.

Anybody heard anything new on this lately? I've been told to wait until there is something in the Admin center and/or a message will be displayed on the Video portal! But nothing on either of our 2 tenants?
06-07-2019 03:23 AM
@fmintah - Has anyone heard any more about this? We are waiting to plan in an enhancement project for our existing Video services. Without the API details we are probably going to have to go ahead and build this on top of Office 365 video which seems a waste. My understanding was that the APIs for Stream would be in place by the end of 2019.
Anyone have an update?

I received a notice in the Admin message center and when I Launch Video portal and click on the Start Migration I receive this. I am Global Admin, and I have tried 3 different browsers

After not hearing anything still I raised another ticket and apparently the migration only really started in June so is still underway!
But apparently you can try and bump your tenant up the list by filling out this form, so will see how that goes: https://forms.office.com/Pages/ResponsePage.aspx?id=v4j5cvGGr0GRqy180BHbR1NSZXlWU31Ii9aFAOjndRNURUtV...

I had the "Get a head start migrating from Office 365 Video to Microsoft Stream" message appear last week, but also get the you don't have permission screen :(
Wondering if I should raise a support issue with Microsoft.

So I see this "Migration" option in the Video Portal settings:
But when clicking on Save I get the standard permission denied....
I've tried my standard account (SP admin, Video admin) and an admin account (Global admin, video admin) and same issue?!
Or do I just wait and it will magically happen. But then will my Video Portal app stop working/be removed, as if so I need to communicate this out to the business?
