Our teams work cross-functionally, in several different time zones so scheduling calls can get tricky. Can we post Live-Stream recordings via Yammer for group members to watch as needed?

Solution

@MattWallace - Yes!

If you do an external encoder event connected to Yammer the recording will automatically be uploaded to Stream for on demand. The Yammer event page will always have the recording on it. In addition you can then grab the link to that video in Stream and post it in a Yammer post and people will see it and play it in line in the post.

If it's a produced in Teams event, you have to upload it to Stream and then post the link to a message in Yammer.

Thanks for the helpful response @Marc Mroz!

As Marc explained, you can see the past events right in the Yammer group.

Hi @Marc Mroz, if our companies aren't allowing external encoders or Teams isn't turned on yet, will Yammer be able to support producing a Live Event? We'd love to be able to leverage this feature with our ERG, leadership and volunteer events while we wait for IT to figure out/allow the other options.

@yburdiel I can tag you in some of my posts (to help you get a feel for how the AMA works)
Yes. You'd sure can. Share the live event Yammer link and they can watch it after the event. However, if you want to keep the video for longer than 180 days, you'll need to download it and upload again to Stream. At this point, it will lose connection with the Yammer conversation thread.
