Direct Bill Partner to Indirect Reseller

Brass Contributor

Dear team,

When a Direct Bill Partner transitions to Indirect Reseller, will there be a period where both are active? Will it go in some kind of hybrid mode and if so, for how long? So, the partner wants to become Indirect Reseller, but for how long will the Direct Bill Partner status be enabled once he has transitioned to Indirect Reseller? Any best practices?

Thanks.

Hi @NisChristiansen

When a Direct Bill Partner transitions to Indirect Reseller, will there be a period where both are active?  Correct. Although approval is usually immediate, it can take up to five business days. When you've accepted the indirect reseller agreement, notice that your Partner profile identifies you as both a direct-bill and indirect reseller.

Will it go in some kind of hybrid mode and if so, for how long? (see above)

So, the partner wants to become Indirect Reseller, but for how long will the Direct Bill Partner status be enabled once he has transitioned to Indirect Reseller? During the transition from direct-bill partner to indirect reseller, you'll continue to manage your direct customers' subscription needs, including the billing process. Any best practices? please carefully review the Microsoft Learn Doc. To find the MS Learn Doc, please log into Partner Center & search " Transition from Cloud Solution Provider direct-bill partner to indirect reseller".

Thanks. However, I assume there must be a time when you are unable to find your customers and add subscriptions in MS Partner Center. As a Direct Bill Partner you are able to add customers, add subscriptions and administer your customers directly in Partner Center. This option is not available when you are an Indirect Reseller. My question is, when does the ability to add customers etc. stop once you become an Indirect Reseller instead of a Direct Bill Partner?

@NisChristiansen

Having both a direct-bill and indirect reseller tenant is recommended and is discussed in the link previously provided.
