Hi @mba-itplan,

I need a little more context on what you are trying to solve. It looks like you've listed specific Windows Apps with approved access through a local Windows Firewall by specifying the *.exe in the Windows App folder.

Thank you,

Roy

Hi @mba-itplan

I wanted to share with you the following guidance that is available with allowing Windows Apps to communicate through a local firewall. The Risks of allowing apps through Windows Defender Firewall (microsoft.com) Microsoft Support article provides the following steps on allowing/denying Windows Apps through the local Windows Defender Firewall:

  1. Select the Start  menu, type Allow an app through Windows Firewall, and select it from the list of results.

  2. Select Change settings. You might be asked for an administrator password or to confirm your choice.

  3. To add an app, select the check box next to the app, or select Allow another app and enter the path for the app.

  4. To remove an app, clear the check box next to the app, and then select OK.

Are you are concerned with a scenario where you create and deploy an app package with firewall rules included in the AppXManifest, followed by creating and deploying an upgrade package of the same app?

In that case, the upgrade should remove the old package and firewall rule, and the new package will add in the new rule. This should be the behavior that you want. No?
