MRPP_Blog Image_CraneMorley (1).pngCraneMorley is a training company first. Our focus is to drive business performance. Mixed Reality is a key component of our on-the-job solutions for delivering a better way to train.

One of the biggest challenges we see organizations face is navigating the skills gap and declining workforce participation. Employees are the life blood of a company and without them companies do not exist. The pressures are only increasing to train, upskill, and onboard new and current employees to meet business demands.

As a Microsoft Gold Mixed Reality Partner and industry expert we help clients in each phase of their mixed reality journey.  Our experience spans across different industries and we bring expert guidance to each project. In our development process we envision, blueprint, develop, pilot, train, and scale custom learning solutions to maximize impact and return on investment.

Our performance-based training focuses on training effectiveness. Together with HoloLens 2 and Dynamics 365 Guides we push hands-on, on-the-job training to shorten time to competency. How do we do this? We take instructor-led training sessions and break them down into essential tasks creating step-by-step guidance viewed through a HoloLens headset. This self-paced training frees instructor time to provide individual attention to trainees.

In partnership with Southwest Gas, we applied the model mentioned above to accelerate new employee training, while also improving the effectiveness of their existing training. We identified the natural gas meter assembly as the most impactful concept to start with, as meter assembly is one of the first training assignments all new employees are required to undergo. Traditional training consists of more than a day of instructor-led teaching combined with skills practice afterward. By using Dynamics 365 Guides we were able to reduce a day of training to under 45 minutes. Rollout was a success and is currently being replicated with nine other natural gas companies.

Next, we utilized Dynamics 365 Remote Assist to implement organization-wide remote operations. Whether due to the pandemic or extreme weather conditions companies have preferred to count on live expert support to solve problems in real time. We demonstrated different scenarios where remote support can reduce cost and solve in-person restrictions. The list of different use cases we implemented continues to expand and now includes remote inspections and virtual instructor-led trainings.

Varian Medical is a leading supplier of diagnostic and cancer treatment radiation machines.  At the onset of COVID, when an engineer needed to fly to a customer location, they were quarantined before being allowed access to hospitals in another country so the machine could potentially be down for that time period.  By adopting Remote Assist, Varian empowered their engineers to “see over the shoulder” of a technician at any location without travel to guide them through a critical fix for a problem.  Mercedes-Benz and other industry leaders have adopted the same Remote Assist strategy as a countermeasure to COVID and are likely to continue after the pandemic because of the proven time and travel savings.

“With a focus on Dynamics 365 Guides and Remote Assist our team of experts will work to analyze and understand what problems your organization is trying to solve and develop a custom solution that is ready to be deployed and start impacting performance,” Said Nicholas Berger, CraneMorley Mixed Reality Lead.
