This is GREAT news!!! :fire: :fire: :fire:

Tried to find this financing option as part of the purchase process, but was unsuccessful. Is this not actually live yet?

Microsoft

@chuckfletcher I can see it show up on the Development Edition store page over here:
https://www.microsoft.com/en-us/p/hololens-2-development-edition/92f64zpzzzd4
As well as more directly over here:

I dunno what region you're in, but if you don't see it there either, you might want to check regional availability!

Copper Contributor

Yes, I found it. Thanks. Other issue now - I want to buy this as independent developer that isn't currently incorporated as a business, but the system doesn't seem to allow that. Must be an existing business. I'm employed as a developer/CTO full time but don't want buy/finance it through my current employer.

Microsoft

@chuckfletcher - We are working with LiftForward to update the form so that sole-proprieters get a SSN field and do not have to provide a business tax id.  I don't have an ETA on when that will be updated, but it's in the works.

Copper Contributor

Thanks for the quick response. Will keep an eye out for that change.

Copper Contributor

Will you post an update when that change is live? I've been waiting years for this announcement so I'm very much looking forward to it.

Microsoft

@chuckfletcher @jedigirl - The update to the form has been made.  Please let us know if you run into any additional issues.

Copper Contributor

The form says it accepts SSN for sole proprietors though it still makes you fill in all the business fields. I completed it as best as I could but my application was rejected. Considering my credit and the info I got from their email it seems they are still treating me like a business. I tried to reach out and ask for clarification but have not heard back.

Copper Contributor

Why do you need Unity Pro and the 3-month Pixyz Plugin license?

Copper Contributor

I am a teacher at a Career and Technical High School and want to purchase / finance this but not through the school is this a possibility?

Bill Gordon

Microsoft

@jedigirl - I passed the feedback on to LiftForward, hopefully one of us hears back soon

Microsoft

@William Gordon - You should be able to purchase/finance it as an individual, by choosing the Sole Proprietor option.  That said, there are reports of this not working, so if you try it and run into issues, please let me know.

Copper Contributor

cant apply as a sole prop because it still asks for all the business info which really does not apply to me so my application was declined.

Copper Contributor

@Claude430 the unity pro license and Pixyz Plugin license are just a marketing "sweeteners" that may in fact benefit Unity and Pixyz more than users ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

Unity Pro isn't required (it has been at different points in the Hololen lifespan for developers but isn't now that I know of).

The Pixyz plugin is a CAD import tool, which is also useful for certain customer audiences, but may not be relevant to you.

Copper Contributor

Did you ever hear back from LiftForward? I never heard back and I doubt they intend to reply to my inquiry.

Copper Contributor

@jedigirl I am in the exact same situation as you. It looks like they declined my application as a sole proprietor without even doing a credit check. And its been nearly impossible to reach a Lift Forward financing agent to speak with over the phone.

Copper Contributor

Any updates on this? Anybody been approved as a sole proprietor?

Copper Contributor

I tried again yesterday. Got denied again without even a credit check. I know this is on the Lift Forward side but sole proprietors are still being held to the business owner standard and it's painfully frustrating.

Copper Contributor

Curious. Which company is doing the credit checks. I keep getting a call from the same 800#. Since I never respond to calls from 800#'s I usually let them go to a voice mail first to see if they will leave a message identifying who they are and what the call is for. In this instance the message last 1 second. This is a tactic generally used by telemarketers to have you call them back so they can verify they are calling a real person so they can start calling to solicit you.
