Macros disabled in excel

We have installed office 365 on a new pc but macro enabled workbooks have been disenabled and the button  above doesn't allow us to enable macros on this pc. We don't have this issue on any other pc. We have tried uninstalling and reinstalling office 365, also we have wiped the hard drive by doing a factory reset but nothing has resolved the problem and 'technical support' (case number: 1018125555) have not been able to assist. We understand this is a known issue? Glad of help please?

Hi @George25 , good afternoon.

I don't think this is the right site to post this kind of issue, but anyway, I'll try to help you.

You should ask you if:

  • The computer is domain joined and you are applying some GPOs related with Office configuration.
  • If the Excel file you are trying to open is secure
  • if the Excel file you are trying to open is within a trusted location.
  • if the Excel file you are trying to open is in a network path trusted location

You can view these settings in the Trust Center. So in Excel, Select File > Options, then select Trust Center in the left-hand list and click “Trust Center Settings…” From here you can check:

  • In the Trust Center dialog, select “Macro Settings
  • In the Trust Center dialog, select “Trusted Documents
  • In the Trust Center dialog, select “Trusted Locations

I hope this can help you. Please, use the right group like Office / Excel to post any issue related with Office Apps.

Good luck!
