Hi @Alurb52gmailcom,
here are the steps you can try to address the issue:
Uninstall and Reinstall the App: Completely remove Microsoft To Do and then reinstall it. This step often resolves issues with the app.
Update the App: Ensure that you have the latest version of the app installed. Updating the app can sometimes fix the problem.

Hi @Alurb52gmailcom,
thanks for the update,
Check for OS Updates: Ensure that your Mac OS is up-to-date.
Check System Date and Time: Make sure that the date and time settings on your Mac are correct. Incorrect date and time settings can sometimes cause issues with app functionalities.
Contact Microsoft Support: If none of the above steps resolve the issue, consider reaching out to Microsoft Support for assistance.

Alurb52gmailcom I have the same problem. Since 04Jan24 ToDo app crashes on my MacBook Pro (early 2013; ver 10.15.7). No change in the Mac OSX.
Found similar problem for Mac in Msoft community site (June 2023 user SLS212)
https://answers.microsoft.com/en-us/msoffice/forum/all/
I tried all the suggestions listed (each time deleting the todo app and restarting incl. shutdown):
1. deleted cache
2. deleted group container
3. deleted todo.mac container
Same result: Each time crashes. Still crashing today.
Today got hold of msoft agent (waited all day yesterday no response). Agent says To Do has NO EXPERT SUPPORT so Msoft releases and app without any link to the developers. Nice one!
The only thing I see has changed (for me) is the new feature 'category sort' released this week. Sort for open tasks (say in My Day) includes categories now.
As To Do is able to link to Outlook (and Planner), this features shares categories which are set in Outlook with the To Do and Planner apps. Unfortunately my Mac 10.15.7 DOES NOT allow ToDo to connect to my Outlook (or Planner) so integrations between apps not supported. I cannot use Planner at all, and my Outlook does not link its Tasks to the To Do app (although it is designed to do so).
I suspect this may be my issue.
I saw somewhere else that someone had identified conflicts with Outlook and To Do categories. They deleted the tasks assigned to categories in Outlook where the associated category had been deleted (I suspect that user may have later version of Mac which DOES connect to Outlook).
Meanwhile all I can do is login to the web version on my Mac and workaround the issue until Msoft decides to solve the issue. I expect this may never happen for 10.15 users as this is the oldest version included with the app setup.
Good Luck!

I have the same problem. I am using 10.15.7.
I have tried all the suggested advice with no luck.
The only temporary fix I have is to delete To Do and to use Time Machine to restore the previous working version (Version 2.110). The update that failed was on 2023-12-27 (which I think is the latest one). So a version prior to that date should work.

Just tried latest update (2024-02-06) - no joy.
Had to revert to the early December version. (Again!)

I did the same. No solution at the moment

I restored a version from 2021 from Time Machine. What I observed on starting To Do:
1. The My Day window identifies me as a user with a (LC) circle and my Microsoft 365 account. The last item on the list is the "Tasks" item.
2. a second window is displayed asking me to verify my email to reauthenticate and reauthorize
3. a "Update your app" modal dialog pops up, giving me no choice but to press the "Update" button
After I upgraded the app to the latest version, the user info was replaced by (#) with no Microsoft 365 user ID. I am not prompted to reauthenticate/reauthorize. The "Tasks" are now missing from the items in the list.
The implication is that I can only create Tasks in the web browser version. Note that the tasks show up on my iPad. Attempting to set the Preferences or setting the account on the Mac fails because no dialog is displayed with which I can put this information. I cannot create a new list using the " + New List " button.
Net: the version distributed from the Apple store is broken in some manner for the Mac.
This is making me reconsider my annual subscription to 365!!
ADDENDUM
After posting this I started a Windows session using Parallels. I started both the New Outlook and To Do, and they BOTH work fine on Windows 11. Restating: this seems to be an issue with the bits being distributed for the Mac on the Apple App Store. Please fix this Mac-specific issue.

This just worked for me! Delete the app and two container folders and download a fresh copy.
- Uninstall the To Do Mac app
- Open Finder and press CMD+Shift+G
- Enter “~/Library/Group Containers” and delete “UBF8T346G9.com.microsoft.to-do-mac” folder
- Press CMD+Shift+G
- Enter “~/Library/Containers” and delete “Microsoft To Do” folder
- Restart your device, download the app from the App Store and check.

Solution does not work for my MacOS 10.15.7 Catalina... nothing does
Have just gotten used to using Safari browser (but that is also now out of support).
Have to buy new Mac as my MBP (perfectly working) is now an albatross as no way to upgrade the OS on old machine.
If I want the To Do app buy new laptop...
What it is...
