Sort options for "My Day" in Outlook

Copper Contributor

I know I can sort my lists in the browser for To Do, but I prefer just using it in the sidebar of Outlook. However I don't see the options to sort the list there, I still have to go to the browser and the sorting I do there doesn't sync back to the Outlook sidebar. I'd like to have it sort alphabetically so I can prioritize my list for My Day.

Hi @carolcobb,

unfortunately, the sorting options for the “My Day” feature in the Outlook sidebar are not available.

The sorting you do in the browser for “To Do” doesn’t sync back to the Outlook sidebar.

You might want to provide feedback to Microsoft about this feature request.
You can usually do this through the “Help” > “Feedback” option in Outlook.

Thanks, I submitted this feedback. Do you have suggestions of the intended possibilities in Outlook for working with the My Day list? I see I can block time on my calendar, but with some tasks needing a very short time (i.e. follow up on a specific email), blocking seems a bit much.

Hi @carolcobb,

great, thanks for the update, it is always good to make a Feedback (Feature request) directly to Microsoft.

Regarding your question, here is a list of general suggestions for using the “My Day” feature in Outlook:

  1. Adding and Managing Tasks:

    • Ensure you are effectively adding tasks to your "My Day" list. You can usually do this by selecting tasks from your overall task list and adding them to your daily plan.
  2. Due Dates and Reminders:

    • Assign due dates to tasks to prioritize them. Use reminders to receive notifications before the due time.
  3. Categorization:

    • Utilize categories or labels to group tasks based on projects, urgency, or other criteria. This can help visually organize your list.
  4. Priority Levels:

    • Some task management systems allow you to set priority levels for tasks. Prioritize tasks based on their importance.
  5. Integration with Calendar:

    • Check if there's an option to integrate your task list with your calendar. This can help you see your scheduled tasks alongside your appointments and meetings.
  6. Custom Views:

    • Explore if there are custom view options for your task list. Custom views can allow you to organize and display tasks in a way that suits your preferences.
  7. Syncing with Other Devices:

    • Ensure that your "My Day" list syncs seamlessly across devices if you use Outlook on multiple platforms. This ensures you have a consistent view of your tasks.
