[Bug in Desktop App] Manual Sort Order in My Day View Reset When Using Search Function

Copper Contributor

There seems to be a significant bug in To Do that's disrupting my workflow.

Whenever you manually sort items in the My Day View, this sorting is normally 'preserved' even after closing/launching the app.

However, I observed when you search for anything, To Do resets the sort order of the items in the My Day View, removing all my hard work (of sorting things in the order in which I'd like to work them).

Please fix! I use the manual sort a lot to help me organize my day. In the current state, I can just never use Search or risk it resetting the order of My Day items or I just can't use the Manual Sort at all and will have to implement 'shenanigan' work-arounds assigning fake descending due dates to tasks or using numbers in the titles to sort alphabetically and I really don't want to do either of those things...

Notably, this bug does not exist when using the web client of To Do. I can search all day long and it doesn't affect the sort order of the My Day View...

Yes, I am aware of this bug in Microsoft To Do. I do experience it, and it can be quite frustrating. I use the manual sort feature often to help me organize my day, and I don't want to have to use workarounds like adding numbers to the task titles.

I usually organize my tasks in Microsoft To Do by priority and due date. I also use tags to help me categorize my tasks. For example, I might have a tag for "work," "personal," "shopping," and so on.

I also use the My Day view to keep track of my most important tasks. I like to use the manual sort feature to order my tasks in My Day view by priority, so that I can focus on the most important tasks first.

I hope that Microsoft will fix this bug soon. In the meantime, I will continue to use the workarounds that I mentioned earlier.

Here are some other ways that I use Microsoft To Do to manage my daily activities

  • I use the Reminders feature to set reminders for tasks that I need to complete.
  • I use the Labels feature to color-code my tasks. This helps me to visually see the different types of tasks that I have.
  • I use the Share feature to share tasks with others. This is great for collaborating on projects with team members.
  • I use the Export feature to export my tasks to a CSV file. This is useful for backing up my tasks or for importing them into another task management app.

Overall, I think Microsoft To Do is a great task management app. It is easy to use, and it has a lot of features that can help me to stay organized and productive. I am hopeful that Microsoft will fix the bug that I mentioned, and I am looking forward to seeing what new features they add to the app in the future.

YES. This is a MAJOR problem in the desktop app. I have submitted help tickets for this, but support personnel don't seem to understand what's happening, despite screenshots. Please fix!
