Word Document uploaded to Teams for editing no longer has the changes people have made

Copper Contributor

Hello,

For work, we have new hire complete orientation documents with their preceptors by editing the document on teams. The orientee had been completing the document, but when she opened it last night, only the original document was loading and none of the changes were showing up. I laid eyes on the changes that had been made before, so I know she had been completing it. However, when I went to the version history, the changes didn't show up there either. I know she's worked hard on filling this document out, and I don't know what happened or how to get the changes back. Please help! :)

Hi @kdunagan I'm hoping this post from Answers.microsoft.com helps (take a look at the response posted January 19, 2019) .https://answers.microsoft.com/en-us/msoffice/forum/msoffice_o365admin-mso_teams-mso_o365b/documents-...

This sounds more like a Sharepoint issue so you might also want to open a discussion in the Sharepoint community https://techcommunity.microsoft.com/t5/sharepoint/ct-p/SharePoint

@ThereseSolimeno thank you for trying to help. However, this didn't really help. The way we've been using Teams is I create the folder in Teams with the documents that need to be filled out my the new hire and their preceptors. They edit the document in teams. Then when it is complete, I download it into our regulatory files. We have done it this way with multiple new hires and this hasn't happened before. I was able to see that the new hire and her preceptor had filled it out, but then I came into work the next day and all the information that had already bee edited into the document had vanished. She was able to edit and save the document, and now it all disappeared out of no where. I haven't ever had to even think about SharePoint. I just have the documents uploaded directly into Teams.
