Why only 9 participants?

Why have Microsoft only enabled you to view 9 participants? It's rather annoying hearing people in my company saying 'In Zoom you can view 49'

Does anyone know the reason? 

Would people like more?

Ask them - why do you want to see 49 pictures of people in the size of a stamp? It's because Teams is for business and not for having a team party. You can use jit.si for this without any registration

@StephanGee I get this, but people still like it. I also like seeing more than 9 people when i'm on Zoom with friends. What I don't get is why not give the option of a gallery view and a 3x3 view.

@gazzaluty Well, for the record increased layout is coming, don't know when and how many but you can follow the progress if you vote for it on UserVoice

Thats ok. For meeting friends i also use another tool like https://meet.jit.si/ which does work in chrome, edge and firefox without any plugin.
But mainly because i do not want all the chats stored in the tenant of my employer.
