I am Office 365 Architect and I am a huge fan of Microsoft Team however I am in quest of finding a reliable Unified communication solution since Microsoft is moving from Skype for Business to MS Teams. Companies are struggling to accept - moving to MS Team is the answer to all problems which could not be fixed in Skype ( Skype IOS and remote meeting - Skype webapp in general).
Collaboration/ UC Solution - Lots of companies using Microsoft Skype for Business trying to move to different Unified communication solution for enterprise UC solution. Microsoft wants companies to move to Microsoft Teams. There are other options available just like cisco webex. Zoom , bluejean are other to names few more. I see competition is between Microsoft Team and Cisco WebEx. Companies who are tired of Skype experience don’t think MS Teams will help as room system changed to windows platform. Lots of companies are preferring Cisco even though it has minimal integration with office 365.
Do we know if any company has moved from Cisco WebEx to Microsoft Teams and vice -versa? Going to Cisco has made life better?
Issues in Microsoft Teams -
1.When you launch Team, why it goes to the browser and launch MS Teams. Companies find this frustrating.
Microsoft room system is windows based . Companies are concerned that now we have to manage windows 10, blue screen, crash, antivirus and all other problem which comes with windows but that wants the case with Polycom Group series.
Do MS Team attendee list will be extended to more than 250 as cisco webex claims to be 1000 attendee. This is important because people want regular team meeting experience and not Live event/Skype/MS Team Broadcast as they are not movie producers.
From Skype , you can see multiple numbers but you have to go dial pad to dial a phone number.
When is video issue be resolved in chrome if users use chrome for joining MS Team meeting using browser.
1. Which is a better solution for audio conferencing -Microsoft Team or Cisco Webex
2. Which are the companies have moved from Cisco webex to MS Teams
3. Which are companies moved from Ms Teams to Cisco webex.

I very rarely come across WebEx anymore, it would seem to me it's been on a steady decline in usage since the cisco acquisition. Also note the many name changes to Spark and now WebEx Teams to try and keep it relevant. Zoom comes up far more often as a competitor.
Skype Room Systems are fantastic devices at a cost that is many, many times lower than traditional VC. I would always choose not to consider them like Windows PCs, just install them on a guest network and connect to the internet, there isn't anything else you need to do. I've never seen one blue screen. Ask Polycom if you want to use their group series, they have plans in place now to work with Teams.
I've not heard of anything specific about supporting Video in chrome. Not heard of plans for meetings with more than 250 participants, I can't see how they would make sense really, you need controls to separate presenters from audience, collect feedback etc. which is already there in Live Events. Live Events are easy to use.

I agree with Steven. It is not often I hear about Webex meetings and when I hear about Webex it is not positive. But with that said I work with mostly helping customers with Skype, Teams, Office365.
If the organization already use Windows PC they usually see Skype Room System as an advantage since it is running windows, then they already have the knowledge, they have procedures how to update, monitor and manage Windows devices. Running other non-windows systems still require some management and update procedure, it's not secure by default only because it is a linux based system.
To your questions I guess most contributors hanging in the Microsoft Tech Community will say that Microsoft Teams is better, but you have to see to the whole picture. For a customer running the whole webex platform or cisco telephony the webmex meeting migth be better for their users and with a lower cost than if they implemented Teams for meetings. For a customer only looking for a web meeting solution Teams or Webex might not be the best, as Steven wrote Zoom if mention alot in discussions about meetings. But for a customer that want chat, telephony, collaboration and meetings Teams will be able to solve that even if there might be other products for chat and another that is better on collaboration.
Yes there are companies that moved from webex to MS Teams, maybe there is not so many moved the other direction since Teams is a new product but I know that there is companies that moved from Skype to Cisco and webex.

Honestly we use Microsoft Teams and O365. We also use Webex Meetings because of the simple integration with Microsoft products. Webex has improved immensely since most of the people commenting have last used it. If you want improved audio, video and end to end encryption compared to MSFT teams Webex is a no brainer. Be happy to talk with you about this if its still something you all are considering.@Manoj Kumar

@bmyslenski Thank you for your email.
1. We chose Microsoft Teams from all available AV solutions - zoom, cisco webex.
2. MS Team is working well for my company.
3. We have also set up direct routing in Ms Teams.
Thank you for your time in adding valuable notes.

I suppose that's the case for smaller companies who can't afford the licensing costs. For instance, may small companies have moved to Zoon for this reason. Otherwise, when you need a professional, and turnkey solution, Webex is still the audio/video conferencing king, by far. @Steven Collier

I work tech support at a small (less than 50 employees) company and have to deal with customers on production floors in the automotive and aerospace industries that do not have access to their MS accounts (if they have them at all) on the production floor. Email links don't work for these customers.
Where WebEx excels is the ease with which I can have them go to Webex, click Join, and give them a 10-digit meeting number. I (as of this writing) cannot do that with Teams. In addition to this, we've used it for 3 years and have had zero issues with the service - no drops or anything and customer service has been pretty stellar in my experience as well regarding billing, initial setup, etc.
If Teams provided a "perma-link" for meetings that I could link to on our website, we would probably not renew our subscription with WebEx, but until then, I've been satisfied with it.

@phanley2000 Agree.. all our customers are leaving Zoom due to the cyber vulnerabilities. We work in cyber security events- so our audience are quick to ditch insecure platforms. They have banned it across all devices in the company and computers -- BEWARE folks. Its a great programme but also has deep roots in China and is not secure. Most companies wont worry and just ensure they have the waiting room to vet incoming "joiners." But we cannot run webinars using Zoom as our clients wont use it..
Its unfortunate and reminds me of Dropbox.. one public hacking and no one in a "secure" enterprise will touch it again even if the vulnerabilities are sorted...

@jnes2400 Wow, thank you so much. I never considered the China aspect of hacking. This is a good perspective to consider also before deploying enterprise solutions.
Note:- I have more than 12 K users and we vet cisco webex and Zoom. We have chosen the Microsoft Teams solution.
1.I have moved my all users to Microsoft teams from SFB online to Teams mode.
2. Configured surface hub in teams mode using intune enrollment with Mode1.
3. Configured Direct routing all four regions.

@Manoj Kumar Thanks! 12K users? Wow and do you do webinars and if so how many attend at one time?
May 03 2020 07:32 PM
@jnes2400 Thank you. We have started doing MS Team live events from the last one month. The maximum number of people attended so far is around 5000. i am working on using Hive for live events. There are only two companies - hive or Kollective. I will post how it will help us. As of now, no one complaints without Hive but we will be using Hive.
Another project which I am working on direct routing, i did complete for NA and LATAM but my other two regions are pending. I have not found experts in direct routing in MS or outside so if anyone has more practical experience in Dial plans, please do let me know.
