I have a Team composed of multiple channels. Within one channel, I want to add new columns in the Files tab for metadata that doesn't apply to the other channels and, thus, I want to prevent that. I understood that disabling "Add to all content types" would prevent that change from effecting other channels, but no matter what I try, they always appear in the other channels' File tab.
I've tried this in the Teams app, in the Teams web app and in SharePoint directly. I've tried clearing the cache on my Teams desktop and that didn't help.
Thanks in advance for any help you may be able to provide.

@DougAtBHB If you go to the SharePoint site you'll see that each channel's files are stored in folders within the same library, so if you add a column to the list then it will appear in all folders.
Content Types are a fairly advanced feature in SharePoint that allow different fields for each document, but it's not just a simple answer to your requirement, all the files in each folder would need to be different content types. By all mean go and learn more about content types and try but I wouldn't bother.
I would go to the SharePoint and add a second document library and add the columns you want, then add a tab to your channel to show that document library alongside the Files tab.

@StevenC365 Thank you for your reply. I started to create a 2nd document library, but thought I should post here first to see if I'm misunderstanding that option, which I obviously am.
Thanks for steering me in the right direction!
Doug.
