What’s New in Microsoft Teams Feature Spotlight – Local time added to profile

Community Manager

Hey Teams Community,

We’re discussing a new feature each week mentioned in the monthly What’s New in Microsoft Teams and this week we’re looking at how the local time has been added to profiles.

The teams we work with are often distributed around the world. With team members spread out across multiple time zones, it can become difficult to schedule meetings or send messages within the appropriate work hours for certain projects.

Now, Microsoft Teams offers a new piece of data in your contact card: local time. By checking your colleague’s contact card, you can tell what time zone they are in, which enables you to do many things, like scheduling meetings that work for both parties and timing when to send your messages to get a faster response, all while being considerate of your colleagues’ schedule.

Are time zones something you consider when you are sending messages of scheduling meetings with your team members or with clients? How many time zones is your team distributed across? Which time zone are you in right now?

Great feature, but atm the format for "local time" is 12 hour (using am/pm) and not honoring the system and/or app time format (24 hour). Can this please be fixed?
more specifically it's 12hour when hovering over the other users icon at the top of a chat, whereas it's 24hour (my system setting) when you hover over the users icon anywhere within the chat ...
