Some time ago I received an invitation to another org, but joining it failed. Now the invitation never works. When I try to remove the org from my list, using Access Panel as instructed here, https://docs.microsoft.com/en-us/azure/active-directory/b2b/leave-the-organization, I can't because I never was able to accept the invitation and thus the org doesn't show up. How can you leave an organization once and for all if you're stuck in limbo?

Most likely have to contact the tenant admin and have them remove your guest account from their AD.

I do have exactly the same problem. And I definitely was permanently removed from the other org's Azure AD.

But that org still keeps showing up in that org dropdown in the top right of Microsoft Teams.

I already did that as well, as you can see in the attached screenshots.

On the upper screenshot, you can see I'm not in the "Michelle Leopold" org. But, it's still in the dropdown of MS Teams (bottom screenshot).

Btw, what does the "2" in the red circle mean?

Don't know what to tell you... other than that's the process to have yourself removed from an org. It will take a little time to take effect. If it doesn't you'll need to open a ticket in your org through your M365 admin portal.

Bad thing is: These two orgs are actually dummy orgs created from my wife's and mine private MS Accounts to test and learn MS Teams. So, we are the admins of these orgs and have full control.

And, as a result, there is no admin we can pass the problem to. ;)

Does this show in Web client as well? If not sign out of yur desktop client so it clears cache. Otherwise, I would invite yourself back to the org so that it shows up and then remove yourself again. If that's what you did originally then possible go into portal.azure.com on that tenant if you are the admin and see if you account still exists and manually delete on that end.

It's also in the web client. There the error message is that my invitation has been revoked by the other org.

What my wife and I did:

  1. She added me to a Team in her org. Her org showed up in my Teams and I joined.
  2. She removed me from that Team again. We found out, I was still able to access the MS Teams Chat in her org.
  3. She deleted my user from her Azure AD (permanently), since we didn't find another way to revoke my rights to access the MS Teams Chat of her org.
  4. We checked on my side (myapps.microsoft.com) that I'm no longer in her org.
  5. I was no longer able to access her MS Team org (but it keeps being listed in my list of org at the top right of MS Teams).
  6. When I select it, MS Teams Desktop App tries to switch to that org, but fails after 2 min. (I posted the error message above.) The Web client tells me the invitation has been revoked, and asks me if I want to sign in with a different account. When I try to sign (web client) in with my account again, I'm in an endless loop. I'm getting asked if I want to sign in with a different account...

It's pretty annoying...

Not sure what happen to your reply but here is mine :P.

Get invited again, and you leave the org this time instead of being removed via azure ad. If that doesn't work, delete on the back end after that and check the deleted bin and make sure it gets fully deleted and not soft delete. After that, if it still doesn't go away, your at the mercy of Microsoft Support.

Yeah I think the only way to possibly fix it is to be re-added to the other org and try again.

Based on testing I've done over the last few days, as noted permissions to the other tenancy is removed immediately on successful use of the Access Panel, it then seems to be approximately 24 hrs from the time where removing the guest access to another tenancy through the Access Panel, and the organization being removed from my Microsoft Teams client's list of available organizations.

I also have the same issue. Once I left a free MS Teams Org, it stays there on all my devices.

I have the same issue. It’s not been 24 hrs though. I am going to wait and see if that works. Is there any other fix for this if that does not work.

I have the same issue. I was added as a guest to another organization that I have not had access to in over a year. I removed the org through the Azure access panel, but it is still showing up in teams.

As a Microsoft Teams user
I want to be able leave an org in Teams in the Teams App
So that I don’t have waste my time going through a kludgy process
We’ll know this is successful if it is as easy to leave an org as it is to leave a team in the Teams App regardless of platform
