Teams no longer allows myself and another user to send/view messages in the conversation window.
When in the conversation tab, it states that "You can't send messages because you are not a member of the chat." - at the top it also says "We're having trouble updating your messages."
If we try to start a new message using the command bar at the top, we can send the message - but we can only see/respond to it in the message alert window.
We have both uninstalled and reinstalled teams, but this has not fixed the issue. Neither of us have issues messaging anyone else in the organization.
Any thoughts or suggestions on how to resolve this?

We've attempted to work around this issue in the past by having a third person start a group chat with the two other people, then that third person leaves the chat.

I had the same issue. Logging out of teams on the desktop application and back in fixed the issue for me.

I have the same issue. I can send/receive chats without any problems with other users, but this one person I'm unable to send a message too after yesterday. Idk if it's related, but I typed out a reply to him on my phone and decided not to send it at the time so I left it in the text entry box. Now I can't get messages to send to him from the desktop client. The message shows a circle indicator without the checkmark inside it. If I close and reopen the client, the message reply is red and with an exclamation point stating "failed to send". The text that was in the entry box on my phone is gone now.
I logged out of Teams on desktop and logged back in. Now, when I click on the chat for this user, it shows a green circle-arrow (like an undo) and says "We can't access your content. Please refresh to try again." Clicking refresh doesn't solve it. I logged out of Teams on my phone and logged back in. Teams updated on the phone and now my chat history with this user is gone on the phone. It's bizarre since it only affects my chats with this one user and his chats with me.

@Matthew H Had the same issue today. Was messaging someone on my phone but had the same error message "We can't access your content. Please refresh to try again." when I went to the computer that you did. Now I can't see that contact's chat message history on the phone either and cannot send a chat to them through either phone or computer. Frustrating!

Adding myself to this list - happening with just one individual user, internal, in my organization. We can communicate in a group chat but not privately between just us two.
Tried all the troubleshooting steps above, restart, sign-out/sign-in, and messaging on the iPhone Teams app. No fix yet.

Magically fixed on my end... well I did tell my IT folks about it. Not sure if they did anything about it but I'll update if I can find out from them if they actively addressed it.

+1 for having same issue. emptied Cache. Logged Out.Uninstalled app in case was interfering with desktop version. Still no luck. Can see co-worker is typing. Some messages say seen but cannot be seen.
