We have just started using Microsoft Teams, we have been using SfB for years.
When we chat and call internally within the company using Microsoft Teams, then everything is working great. However when i try to chat with someone outside the org. it fails with the same msg.
This user is offline or not available. We have sendt an e-mail instead.
same thing happens if the external user tries to write me within Teams.
Observations: if we (me and the external user) are both logged into SfB as well as Microsoft teams, then:
1: he writes to me in Teams, it appears in SfB at me.
2: i write back to him in SfB it ends up in his teams
3: i write him in Teams, i get the error above (even though i can see that he appears online in teams)
4: if he goes offline in SfB and i write to him in SfB it still ends up in his teams chat.
5: tried the Microsoft Teams app, just to make sure. Same deal, same error
Anyone able to help`?

When i write, from teams, to the external contact he receives my message in SfB. If he replies in SfB i receive his message in Teams.
Same goes for him, if he sends a message from teams i get it in my SfB. I reply to him from SfB he recieves in Teams.
Very standard setup i would assume when it comes to chat routing etc, neither his nor my setup has been changed in teams.

So no way for us to start using teams as a test phase, before we shutdown SfB completly?
I heard about office 365 subscriptions that were forced into teams when attempting to log into SfB. i would hate for that to happen to us, however i want to be able to test team and run both programs for a period of time.
Are we not able to do this? or do we have to make a hard switch and move everyone to Teams without us being able to test is first?

did you ever get this resolved?
is it due to coexistence settings, its like O365 defaults to S4B?
