Teams with Exchange 2016 on-premise full classic hybrid (UPN and Email do not match)

Copper Contributor

Hi,

Here is the scenario I am after:

-Exchange 2016 on the latest CU in hybrid with O365 (Classic Full hybrid)

-UPNs and Primary email addresses of users do not match (using the same routable domain for both)

-User mailboxes are hosted on-premises Exchange 2016 DB

-Hybrid is to license users on O365 and turn on Teams and migrate mailboxes at some time later

I think by default SIP address stamped will match the UPN.

Question:

Will the Teams integration with Exchange on-premise mailboxes work for calendar sharing with this scenario of UPN not matching the SMTP address?

If the answer is no, will it help if we stamp a proxy address matching UPN without changing the primary SMTP address.

Thanks in advance!

Simply put, change the UPN to match the email address. No matter how hard it is to do.
Otherwise you and your users will regret it forever.
