Teams Meeting Link

Copper Contributor
If a reoccurring meeting is created with a Teams link is the address in the link the same for every meeting moving forward!
I have a customer who wants to post the link on social media so people can attend the meeting, the link needs to be live for each subsequent meeting be that weekly, fortnightly etc..
Is that a thing and been done successfully before?

@GerardW Hi there!  According to the Microsoft documentation, the link will remain active for 60 days and that timer is reset every time the meeting is joined.  For example:  If the meeting has been inactive for 55 days then it will expire in 5 days if no-one updates/joins the meeting.  However, if someone joins the meeting on day 56, the meeting expiration date will be reset and extended for another 60 days.  There does not seem to be a limit on how many times you can do this for.

@GerardW Hi, for reoccurring meetings a best practice is to share a link by a url shortener. For following events you can just modify the long url within the short url.

How does an URL shortener solve the issue of an expiring meeting link?

@nassereb it does not solve the expiry of a meeting link and i would be careful as most URL softeners will not allow you to change the URL it is linked to.  Not unless you pay for a subscription.
