We've been educating our users of Teams around how to manage meeting chat.  We have had scenario's where a recurring meeting has been set up and an individual is invited to 1 meeting only, but they still get notifications when something is added to the recurring Teams meeting chat.  Obviously the individual can mute, or leave the chat, but we also need to educate people on how to remove someone from the chat, once their contribution is at an end and it's no longer appropriate for them to receive any of the conversations within chat.  We assume that using the "Remove" option will address that.

However - the question has now arisen around what if you invite someone part way through a meeting?  How much of the chat will they see, which is prior to them joining - would they see all conversations that took place in that recurring meeting chat, going right back through all meetings - would they just see from the point they joined the meeting?  This is particularly important when we have guests invited to business critical meetings, like Management Board meetings - where it might not be appropriate for them to be able to access previous conversations held in chat.  I stress we're only talking about ad-hoc or recurring meetings scheduled through Outlook, not ones related to a Team channel necessarily.  Can anyone throw any light on this - how much chat will they see - I'm guessing it's everything up to and including the point they join and only until such time as they are removed by the meeting admin?
