Teams is eating 90% of CPU on Macbook Pro Intel

Copper Contributor

Hi Everyone,

I have seen several threads regarding this topic, either on this site or on other sites.

But most discussions are already 1 or 2 years old, and some threads have been closed.
There were answers from the Teams development team explaining there were working on it. But nothing recently. Am I the only one having this issue?

When running Teams (Teams Version 1.6.00.11156. It was last updated on 05.05.23.) on macOS (Ventura 13.13.1), on a Macbook Pro 2.6GHz i7 16GB, the CPU goes up to 80 to 90%.

As discussed on the forums, I tried turning off GPU acceleration (which does not make sense, but anyway). No change.
I am using a second monitor - maybe this is related.

Can anyone point me to some solution - apart of upgrade to M2 Macbook Pro :-)?

Thanks

Robin

Hi,

Microsoft is in a phase roll out for new version of Microsoft Teams Application which is lighter than the correct one. This is coming to MAC devices by end of June or mid July.

@RealTime_M365 I moved to Teams New. It has even worse effect on my Intel Mac Book 2019 than previous version

@Roman_K50 Did you manage to resolve this?  I am having the same issue on an Intel I5 mac too.

Thanks
