Teams - Inking within MS Word Docs loaded into Teams

Has anyone found a work around to allow inking/annotation within a MS Word document when it is loaded via Teams (Browser or App).  The only solution I can see is to open and edit the document within the full MS Word desktop application, and then use the inking tools.

Scenario: A teacher is using the Teams app to collect and annotate assignment drafts.  They are hoping to use their active screen and stylus to simply annotate and ink over the document.  The "in-browser" version of Word allows traditional "comments" but no inking.

Teams uses the web version of office through its client so inking will not work through Teams.

Any chance this will become a possibility in the future? Very annoying having to open every Word doc submission in Desktop App to ink/correct it and then wait for Teams to catch up before returning to the student.
