We have started having this problem with all our Teams' external users not being able to upload files to any of the Files tabs in the team's channels. Those exact guests used to be able to upload files until March 23rd, 2018 which makes me suspect that this must be related to the major announced change in external sharing in O365.

The displayed error message is: image.pngThe error message a guest recieves when uploading a file.

This a key use case for our Teams implementation. I'm a bit surprised that there was no clear Teams-specific guidance on how to deal with this change in the context of Teams guest access. We need to address this issue immediately.  I have run the PowerShell command mentioned the above mentioned knowledgebase link with no avail.

Any guidance from the product team or the community is greatly appreciated.

I've added a pdf file being an external guest and it worked me.

Thanks for your response Adnan, obviously our tenant has an issue that you don't see in your environment. This is a global issue for us now. None of our real guests or the test guests that we have created can upload files anymore. To be clear the guest file upload worked perfectly until Mar. 23rd. We started getting reports of this issue on Monday (Mar. 26th).

for the communities benefit: we have been able to find a workaround to solve this issue by going to underlying SharePoint behind this Team -> Documents -> Library Settings -> Permissions for this document library -> give Contribute permissions to Visitors SharePoint group

Have you already opened a support ticket? Adding here @Anne Michels

Yes, support ticket is open.

Now that you say this, i've noticed someone with a group site that I was looking at had the "Group" members permission showing as read on the permission page. Wonder if that's related.

It's working just fine using guest accounts here, are you sure someone didn't just change the permissions in your SharePoint site?

Please share your ticket #, @PJ Zargarzadeh

@Alex Olsen (RECTOR)

Hi we are also facing same problem. Guest users unable to upload the file. Have you got any update from Microsoft on this ticket?

Hi - did you manage to resolve this issue. We have the same issue!!

Good day.
Has anyone solved this problem? Some participants who have a guest label cannot upload or open files.
What to do?
Thank.

@PJ Zargarzadeh

I'm seeing that while in a Private chat as a guest of the tenant with a member of the tenant , I don't have the ability to share a document using the normal "attach" document feature. Is this by design? i.e. within Teams private chat all participants need to be full members of the Tenant where Teams is located to be able to share documents via Private chat?

Correct because you have to have onedrive go share a file in chat. Guests do not have onedrive in your tenant. If guests need to share then they would do so via the Team channel / files tab.

Native chat is coming soon. It might allow sharing files in chat via external chats.

thanks @Chris Webb .makes sense.  so the workaround is to create and copy a Share link to the document from the Guest users OneDrive and then paste it into the chat window (but it won't appear in the files tab within the chat unless a full member places a copy of it there)

Yes. The files tab really is meant for temporary transfer of docs. If you want to have links there. You should be able to do website links in the chat. Just put the share link as a website tab in the chat. Then you have link to the document.

@Chris Webb  as a guest I can only see the "conversations" tab .. I don't have the ability to add tabs to a private chat. Assume it's also by design. I get that the full member could add a tab with the Shared document URL so that's a good suggestion

It's quite a big issue for us...

Unfortunately, it looks like there won't be any fix. It's quite a major drawback, since its make working with guest quite complicated.
