I tried with share point migration tool but for that looks that Source has to be SharePoint on premise, in my case it is share point online

Sorry I was referring to a SharePoint Migration Tool as in ShareGate or AvePoint, as opposed to SPMT. I am sure that's what Adam meant too. SPMT is designed for on premise SharePoint and File Server moves to SharePoint Online, not migrations within SharePoint Online.

Content is on 1 sharepoint site with around 10 folders and each having 20 files on average
I think it should be possible without any 3rd party tools

In that case, if its only 10 folders and each having 20 files on average I would personally be inclined to recreate the folder structure in the Team, sync both libraries to the PC and then move the data manually by a simple drag and drop or a copy.

SharePoint is quite capable of moving files between locations without downloading them. In a modern browser select the folders you want, choose Copy and then find the Team, it's Documents library, then the folder for your channel. The copy will only take a few seconds on the server.

Thanks All, great inputs
for some files, getting below error:
we could not move the file because it is locked for editing or has been modified or deleted
is there a way to quickly close the error on multiple files and move them

Are you trying this in Teams or SharePoint? I think 2 years ago when I wrote that post Teams wasn't an option but certainly is now. Select the folders or files then in the menu in Teams choose ... and find copy. Navigate up until you see a list of Teams, it should match the list of Teams you have in the client.
