Teams Files, Text boxes in Doc's don't work

We are using Teams files and OneDrive for file repositories while you can update a document wholly  while in Teams files you cant type into a text box. 

In onedrive you can put your curser in a text box and type away, in Files you get a little white cross in the text box as though your editing the box?

Any advice is gratefully received

Can you explain further what you’re trying to do? Screenshots?

Screen shot one shows the cross and the text box as if its being altered when you click in it, screen shot two show the cursor ready to type in the text box, they are a copy of the same document opened from two different places, one from files in Teams, two from OneDrive
