Adding a Guest user to Teams. They can access Office group Team site in SharePoint but when they try to open Teams and switch to our tenant they see this...

You can simply sign in into shared apps and resources.

I can't seem to find any reference to this, can anyone shed some light?

Do they have issues with any other org?
Maybe just try to remove one user and do a reinvite?

No. Well, their org works OK, but when they switch to ours the error pops up.

Tried browser versus desktop app, error appears.

Tried 'private' browser window in case there was a credential collision somewhere, error pops up.

 

Not seen any mention of this error anywhere.

At a loss.

Okay! Normally issues appear when they have cached credentials etc but this seems not to be the case!

I would try do a re invite! Remove the user from AAD and the recycle bin! Invite the user again in Teams ( make sure to type the full email address)

@adam deltinger Thanks, worth a shot.

What's puzzling is that they can access the SharePoint Team site associated with the Microsoft Team using the very same creds.

When I have encountered invite problems in the past, users have not been able to sign in to any Office 365 services. A purge has worked in these cases, but here everything looks OK.

I'll try this tomorrow morning ( it's teatime here in the UK).

@Tony Hignett certainly an odd one, to me that implies that Teams is still trying to respond to an invite when the user already has an account. Deleting their account and starting again sounds like a good plan, otherwise I would suggest a support ticket.

Solved this…

Unbeknownst to me, the user had been previously invited to other Teams using a different, but associated identity.

 

Office 365 generally seemed to reconcile these identities. SharePoint access was OK but switching to our tenant in Teams raised the error when it found numerous Teams with apparently different credentials.

 

fred.bloggs@theiruniversity.ac.uk had already been invited to 2 Teams as a guest.

I invited bloggsf@theiruniversity.ac.uk to 3 Teams as a guest.

 

When switching to our tenant in Teams: “Object ID()…already exists as a guest user. You can simply sign in into shared apps and resources.”

 

So I removed bloggsf@theiruniversity.ac.uk from my 3 Teams and Guest Users office 365 admin.

The added fred.bloggs@theiruniversity.ac.uk to my 3 teams.

 

Microsoft Teams is now working fine.

Not sure if I’ve explained this clearly, but posting in case it is useful for someone else.

@Tony Hignett I'm having the same issue but my user can't access SharePoint or Teams. The SharePoint site comes up but blank files.

 

I'll try this solution (once I re-read it and figure it out) and hopefully i'll remember to update this thread for someone else.

 

It's a similar issue where we needed to change the email address of the Guest.
