Teams error "No internet. Reconnect to keep the conversation going..."

Brass Contributor

Many of our users are reporting that the Teams desktop app will stop working altogether, followed by an error message banner at the top of the Teams desktop app stating:

"No internet. Reconnect to keep the conversation going..."

Environmental context

  • Error was first reported in November 2020
  • The error seems to occur at random times of the day in a variety of use-cases
  • Cannot replicate the error the in the mobile or web versions of Teams
  • Replicated the error while connected to the company network at HQ and regional offices
  • Replicated the error while connected to the company VPN at remote locations
  • Replicated error on multiple Dell laptop models
  • All PCs are running Windows 10 1809 (upgrading to 2004 soon)
  • Security apps on every laptop:
    • Cisco AnyConnect VPN (version 4.9.01095)
      • Always on when remote and users cannot disconnect
    • SentinelOne anti-virus (version 4.5.2.136)
    • Dell Encryption (version 10.7.0)

Troubleshooting attempted

  • Uninstall/Reinstall the Teams desktop app
  • Clear Teams cache in %appdata%\Microsoft\Teams
  • Uninstall/reinstall/update the Teams mobile app
  • Clear cached credentials in Credential Manager
  • Update laptop drivers and BIOS
  • Sign out of the Teams desktop app and sign back in (temporarily fixes the issue for a day)
    • We suspect the issue may be token-related based on this finding

We currently have a support ticket open with Microsoft which is being reviewed by their product support engineers. Any additional input would be much appreciated.

Hi @Josiah_H   This issue recently showed up on our answers.microsoft.com tech support site.  See if this helps: Teams Issue : No internet. Reconnect to keep the conversation - Microsoft Community

@ThereseSolimeno Unfortunately, the steps outlined in that article only serve as a temporary workaround. The issue consistently returns each day.

Bumping this post because it's still an issue in our environment.
