An employee messaged to say that they didn't receive a banner notification from my last message. When I got them to reply to me I was the same. No banner message, no activity indication, nothing.

 

Eventually, after testing various scenarios. I found that if 'User A' is highlighted in Teams then I close it. When they sent a message I'd receive no banner.

If I choose a different user 'User B' message in Teams before closing Teams. I do receive a banner message from the 'User A'.

 

We've never noticed this before today?

 

Is this happening to others?

It's been that way, It's kind of annoying since sometimes I'll have a Team channel open and new messages will go in and I won't notice before I click off. I want to say it used to not do this a long time ago but I've been noticing it recently and meant to say something about it. But your not alone, it does this for chat and channel conversations if the active window is sitting open on them.

Hey @Juan Carlos González Martín anyway to see or get in a feeler on this issue? Something recently changed where you will be missing tons of chat notifications off screen with no audio queue either when window isn't the active window and new chats / replies happen off screen. Rather annoying.

And by the way, you know the normal procedure here: support ticket + grab Teams logs

Same issue for me and some colleagues for a few days. I am getting no notification for messages. No banner, no sound, no taskbar flashing. The only indication is a red dot on the Teams icon in system tray and that only seems to work half the time.

 

C'mon Microsoft this is a pretty big issue if a chat program can't even give notifications of messages...

If i can still reproduce it tomorrow when I get in, i'm going to get logs, video the repro and send it to Microsoft and let you guys know.

If this was the case, I've never noticed it until now.

This is still a problem and needs to be resolved!

 

As it stands now I can barley use teams and I have had to use email instead since notifications at least works for Outlook.

So put in a ticket ;)

Does the issue happen in your environment?

I'm not an admin so I can't submit tickets as far as I know. Either way it's still useful to report findings like this here where everyone can see it an follow the progress. It also helps when trying to determine the scope of the issue (if it's just you).
Yeah, not arguing against posting, I love linking to these posts when I put in a ticket! Was just being lazy and trying to see if someone was going to submit a ticket cause I haven't had time unfortunately to submit one myself :).

Ask your Global Admin to make you a Service Admin so that you can submit support tickets.

Yes. Our team started noticing this today. It needs to be fixed. It prevents users from using the product.

We've been getting reports of Notifications not working properly these last few days too.
I'm running the latest and greatest version locally, and can reproduce using the steps provided by David.

I got confirmation that the team is aware of the issue and working on a fix. Hopefully soon!

Sometimes I really wish there was a Rollback option on client for Teams. Like approved version that all your tenant pulls from so we can rollback to last weeks build at times like this. This notification issue is getting ridiculous, it should be fixed by now.
