We would like to use teams extensively. However, we all use headphones when speaking, but take them off when not in a meeting. Currently, when you get a text message in teams, it appears to play the alert sound via the active playback device. this means the sound will come through the headsets when they are not on our heads and we don't hear the alert.
Request: Allow users to tell Teams to use a different playback device for alerts (speakers) instead of the headphones.
Also, i can not configure any audio settings in Teams until I am connected to a call.
Request 2: Please let me configure teams audio and video settings without being on a call.

Microsoft Team should have the option or feature to configure or customize audio devices. Much like Skype for Business.
User should be able to set the following:
a. default speaker & microphone
b. default & alternative ringer or ring them both/all
c. volume level of other devices/apps should automatically lowered or muted when a call comes in, until call is hang up.
There should also be a GPO or registry key that always set the desired settings in case end-users change the settings.

Any update on this request for a feature/enhancement?

I agree with both points - no one wants to wear a headset all day. Changing the default audio device is a pain when it could be taken care of if Teams was configured to do so.

But it does, Teams has its own default device for calling that defaults to a headset. If your system audio comes out of your speakers that doesn't effect the Teams default.

If someone calls it goes to the the setting that is defined in Teams. I would like an audio option of "ALL or both". That way I will hear the notification if the headset is on my head or not. Having just one setting for both Audio and Notifications is a problem to me. I would prefer to split the option - Audio just for speaking (headset) and Notification on the PC Speakers, or both.

Notification sounds from messages come from my laptop speakers (the default audio device), calls through my usb headset (default device in teams).

@Steven CollierI must be missing something here. I've tried changing every conceivable setting in Windows sound settings and within Teams.
Is this, or is this not an existing feature?
Call notification sound on the desktop Teams application is outputted to default PC speakers until call is picked up and headset is used as default communication device (no more sound output through PC speakers).

@Chris WebbThanks very much for the confirmation Chris. Is there any way I can follow along with Teams development? I've gone ahead and voted for the feature on the Teams User Feedback Forum.
Here's hoping it gets integrated soon.

@Graham Martin Agreed, this option is available in Skype for Business... so why not in Teams...? If i dont have my headset on and not looking at the screen, i never know when someone is calling me from Teams.

@Graham Martin
I totally agree because I leave my (very long) USB headset cable attached to the back of my PC. And I regularly miss a chat sound because that attention sound is played through the headset and not the speakers.
Secondary Ringer is a setting in devices that does some of that functionality,
