We seem to have this weird issue where status is not being displayed for any users on Microsoft Teams. It just says status is "Unknown" with a white circle. trying to change the status has no effect and this seems to be happening for all users using Microsoft Teams in our tenant.
We tried switching between Developer build and back. Also, tried a fresh install but still the same issue.
Is anybody else having this issue?

Users status shows as unknown, wont change when another status is selected To resolve:
1. Close and quit Teams application
2. Clear contents of the folder: C:\Users\%Username%\AppData\Roaming\Microsoft\Teams\Cache (where the %username% would be the users login ID)
3. Re-open teams application and try to change status
Check the teams online version and see if you get the same result. typically you would see there actual status.

@Shanuj Patel I know I am late to reply to this post but we recently encountered this issue. We were having this issue company-wide where no one was able to change the status for some reason. Our IT manager (John Giordano) was able to figure out what was causing it. There are two options that he told me and they both need to be done on the DNS level.
Option 1: Remove the old SIP records for skype completely. Which prevents TEAMs to show the status
Option 2: Add a new SIP record for your Office 365. You will be required to get an Office 365 license.
I hope this helps. It worked for us.

@Shanuj Patel I experience this periodically, but the issue gets fixed (at least for a few weeks) if I clear the Teams cache, what I do is
1. Quit Microsoft Teams (actually quit not just close it, right click and "Quit" or kill from the task manager)
2. Open the File Explorer
3. Navigate to %APPDATA%\Microsoft\Teams
4. Select everything (files and folders) except for the "Backgrounds" folder and any ".json" files and delete them.
Specifically, the json files I make sure to keep are "settings", "storage", "preauth", and "desktop-config". Deleting them doesn't break anything, it just resets your settings to the defaults, and the "Backgrounds" folder just stores your personal backgrounds if you added any yourself. If you delete this then you will still have the default ones that come with Teams.
This is probably overkill, but I am still in the process of trying to delete things 1 by 1 to figure out what causes the issue, so for now I just do this.
We were facing teams status unknown issue for only one user while using PC in organizations'network. All the functions of the teams except status was working fine. The teams status on mobile application for this user were showing properly. After two days of efforts we manually setup proxy server on this pc and enabled the connection routed throgh proxy server. The status unknown issue resolved..
