I am being asked about notifications when sharing schedules / changes within shifts. When you make changes / add shifts and choose to share with the team (notify all or just ones that were changed), we are not seeing any alerts, no emails, etc. One time we tested this it was showing within the activity tab on the mobile app, but many were also expecting an email, etc. 

 

What is the intended behavior for sharing the schedule with the team (not an export)?

I am also experiencing this issue, I have been trying to look through the admin center for any information but have yet to find anything.

We are also having this issue, sharing with the team does not seem to result in any notification.  Do we need to change a setting?  We are not seeing any activity in the teams area either?

Same questions. Would be fabulous if staff actually get notified that the roster has been updated.

Also, is it possible to notify the shift owners when staff members swap shifts?

Having the same issue. Working on using Shifts as our primary scheduling tool out of Teams. Love the layout, etc. but this is a big mystery as to why we're not seeing the notifications. It would be great to hear back from the MS Teams "team" on this one ...

I did log a support ticket for this and have been advised that it is just not working yet! Apparently they are working on it but there is no time estimation on when it will be fixed.

I’ve been testing it as well and no notifications whatsoever. They should have waited until fully functional instead of releasing, you get all excited but when you start testing, you realise your excitement is short lived

I came here looking for the answer to this too. Was expecting to receive a notification on mobile each time a shift is shared with the user/s.

 

Considering it is in the support article:

6. When you’re ready to share the schedule, click Share with team. All team members will be notified that they have new shifts.

How did this get through any kind of QA? If this isn't supported yet there should at least be a note on the button or in documentation.

 

Very disappointing I can't showcase to the org.

@Jordan Paris  In our org, everyone except the manager sharing the shift receives a notification as entry under Activity on the mobile device (only on mobile, not on the desktop or the web) and there are no other notifications such as emails or a badge on the Shifts app icon.  As long as all of your team members use the mobile Teams app, it's at least better than nothing.

You would assume from that statement you would get an email or even a Teams desktop notification? But nothing??? (other than a teams app notification - which I have yet to see btw???)

@Edwin_Derry - We don't see assigned shifts in the activity feed either and, I agree, that is a huge gap since the team members get zero notification when a shift is assigned to them. What we do see is a notification in the activity feed when a schedule is shared or when a request is submitted, however, only in the mobile Teams app.  With regard to assigned shifts, to try and mitigate this lack, you can ask your team members to configure notifications of upcoming assigned Shifts called "Shift Reminders" for up to 23 hours 59 minutes in advance of the shift. You find this in the Teams app under Settings | Shifts | Shift Reminders.

Great alternative Kreera!

I've been trying to find a data source for the data behind this, so that I can set up Power BI Alerts and dashboarding around this until it get's solved.

My workaround is actually to build a power automate flow that runs every morning, get's a list of shifts for that day, and posts an adaptive card to a user who is going on shift that day.

 

I also built an automated flow that triggers on shift assignment action that does the same thing, sends an adaptive card to the assigned person from the flow bot via DM.

Our shifts are 24 hour on call shifts that go from 8 am to 8 am, however, shifts won't let you schedule 24 hours, so they're modelled at 8 am to 7:45 am. 

 

Step 1: Recurrence

                                 -> To End Time = addDays(utcNow(), 2)*

 

*note I have to add 2 days to my addDays function because the List all Shifts connector will only return shifts that are ENTIRELY within the date window. One might also use addHours(utcNow(), 25) if it's too large a window.

 

Step 3: For every shift found, do the following stuff:

Step 3.1: Get the particular shift of interests metadata:

Step 3.2/3/4: Convert the times I want to display to the user from UTC to my timezone and display them as human readable.

To create my adaptive card JSON info, and pasted the JSON into the message body per the video explanation in that tutorial, updated the key value pairs that I wanted to be from shift data, and we get the following post by the flow bot to the user.

hiccup with the action is that it only returns entire shifts within your window, so you'll have to define it appropriately. We have on calls for 24 hours, ergo the start time is before the on call shift starts, so I need more than 24 hours. I could have also done this with addHours(utcNow(), 25).
