Sharing Code Snippets through Chat

New Contributor

Hi MS Teams Team,

Is there any update on when code formatting will be available in Teams? I have several development teams ready to switch away from Slack but the missing piece is being able to share Code Snippets. Right now copy/paste doesn't keep the proper formatting and it would be very useful for development teams to be able to share code for reviews through chat. Thanks!

I have no heard any news about this support

Thanks for the link! Good to know it's planned but I'm still hoping someone can give a little insight around a timeline. Things can stay "Planned" for a very long time without movement.

Click on the A to modify text, choose paragraph, then Code.

This isn't "snippets", just formatting.

Snippets allow you to paste code which can do syntax highlighting based on language.

Also `word` should render like word

Interesting ``` will render a code format

but ending ``` will not close it back to normal formatting.

`word` does render as expected in Teams.

Not correctly...

sadly not for me :(

I'm some way ahead due to interaction with the product group. I tried in the browser and it doesn't work at all. I would recommend using the feedback button to report a problem.

@Christopher Denneen See the end of my comment says "then Code".
The button in formatting for code snippets looks like "</> Code snippet"

I only see Title, Paragraph and Monospace but have no Code formatting option in the text.
This seems to work fine to format text as code in chat messages. Thanks.
