Hi,

 

When I got to MS Teams, 'Chat' section and then 'Contacts' I´m able to see groups from my SfB but not contacts on it.

Is there another step needed to import/see contacts?

We’re your contact groups filled in with external contacts? The import it does usually only does internal ones and it’s sketchy st best.

And that's Chris just being polite. The process is total **** and it's annoying how much time it has taken them to address this basic functionality. But hey, the marketing folks say we have "parity" with SfBO, so it must be true :)

Yeah, so currently the contact groups do not support external contacts, so you are going to have to just manually click "New Chat" and put in their e-mail to chat with external contacts, you can pin these however, but you won't be able to add to contacts list yet.

Just another question, when you say to add 'email address' this means the skype address for external contact? or any e-mail address can be asked/invited to chat with us (using MS Teams)?

Well assuming they are Skype for Business then their e-mail address finds that user when you click the "Search externally" box that will drop down after inputting the address. This will message their Teams / Skype for Business based on how their local CoExistence settings are set.

Teams does not support messages "Skype" users so if you had any of those contacts you can't use them at all.

What do we do if the lists are internal folk and nothing came through?  Do we re-add the group to the contacts?  If so, how?  I see an option to create a group, but I think that just allows you to add users.

Agree, it's a big topic right now, they declined to support it, but many are not happy with the decision.
Yeah, you have to create a group, then right click the group and add contacts manually to the groups. The only one you can take from recents list is the favorites group where you can right click a recent chat and add to favorites.

If SfB customers was asking for to be able to talk with 'Workplace' users or even Whatsapp users... but no, it´s 'MS-Product-A' with 'MS-Product-B' that cannot stablish conversation.

I have a Distribution List created by Admin with all internal folks (@microsoft.com) email addresses and still can't able to view the names when expanded in Teams. Any thoughts please?

You can’t use dist groups for chats only adding to a team.
I think that what you are asking? Could you elaborate or show a screenshot where you are talking about or what you expect to see?

I added a DL to my Contacts in SkypeForBusiness and could see it in Teams under Contacts. But when try to expand it, it doesn't show any list of contacts/members under that DL. Attached screenshot.

Well it depends, did you just recently add to Skype for Business or is this an old list? The external contacts are the ones that don't pull over. The existing ones should, you can't exactly add a new one in and have it moved if it was added after the migration happens back I think around Aug. Sept. timeframe.
It's been Old list that I added almost more than a year back.

@Renato Pereira  and others. The external / federated contacts should start populating into Teams now that it has support for on-prem federation. If you don't see yours or can't add new external contacts to your list, then you might not have the update pushed to your tenant and might need to give it a bit longer, but should be soon.
