See Synology NAS files in Teams

Copper Contributor

I work in an NGO and we have a huge database of pictures and videos from our 100+ long history. Currently they are stored at a Synology NAS at our office.
We would like to be able to see the files through Teams, as we are working from home and would like to consolidate our different "work entrances".

We don't want to move the 6 TB of files to Sharepoint as that would be costly.

Is there any way to:
- leave the files on the NAS
- Somehow create a hook into O365
- Show the files in a teams folder view (see, download, edit)

Hi,

Not sure on the hook part but realistically if you want to interact with Files via Teams the data is going to have to be in the cloud. For that experience to be its best it would need to be stored in SharePoint as that is the native storage utilised by Teams.

I can recommend and depending on your network connectivity, for you to take a look at SPMT. Which is a very robust free tool from Microsoft and depending on the specifics would easily be able to take on 6TB in most cases.

Thanks
