Restricting the creation of Office 365 groups and its impact on Microsoft Teams.

Frequent Contributor

Hi All ,

We have disabled the creation of Office 365 groups in our organization and as of now we have given the rights only to global admins to create Ofice 365 groups . So my question here is , with Microsoft Teams every time you create a "Team"  in Microsoft Teams it would also create an Office group within the team . So will this restriction have any impact on that or it depends on how we manage the creation of Teams in Microsoft Teams ? Please let me know .

The create team button will disappear for non admins

So you mean to say only we as admins would have access to create Teams in Microsoft Teams and not end users , right ?

Pieter,

We have also disabled group creation.
As a Global Admin the "Create and join a Team" button is visible for me, but does nothing.
Any thoughts?

Once a team has been created, a user from the business is assigned as the Owner.
Can we restrict the ability to change the Team name ?
