Restrict private channel creation

Brass Contributor

We have established a Self Service process to create Office365 Groups / Teams and these groups get created via the Graph API. Is there any chance to restrict the private channel creation only to the owner of the Team?

Is it not enough to restrict PC creation at the Team Administration level?

Not really. It's totally okay if the owner is able to create a private channel but in a lot of cases I wouldn't want the members to be able to create private channels.

Imagine the situation where team members infiltrate the Team with a private channel without the owner...

Owners can see private channels in the channel list, so they would know about them.

Also as Juan said, if you know who all your Team owners are, you can apply a Team policy to those owners allowing private channel creation, and everyone else on the default policy with channel creation turned off. This will net your results.
Thanks Chris. That's in any case good that the owner at least sees it.

As far as i understand it, Team policies are always for the whole team environment and not for single Teams, right?

In this case that's not a suitable solution. Within a big Company people have different roles, within one project it's totally fine that a specific person is able to create private channels but in another Project he should not be able to do so.
