Hi, 

 

We have regular team meetings where everyone joins and someone will present something they have been working on using the screen share capability. Unfortunately when we play back the recorded video it appears that the screen share hasn't been captured and instead shows the various team members/talking heads as it would if were just a regular audio/video call. 

 

Does anyone else get this or know what's causing this to happen?

Seems to work fine in our tenant, you can open a support case to have it investigated. Then again, the feature is still in preview, so this might be another case of "not all bits and pieces have been fully rolled out to all tenants".

Not sure if it matters, but try starting one first before the other?

We had that issue in Skype, and there was a bug where recording wouldn't pick up the screen share if the screen share was started before the recording was started.

Once we started recording and then started sharing screen - the recording picked it up.

@James Brennan Was there ever a resolution to this? This happened to me today.  I know the users I was sharing with could see my dynamics D365F&O session as well as the mobile app, so I was sharing my desktop.  Any clue as to why the recording was just of the Teams Call screen? Super frustrating because the audio isn't very helpful alone.

@Sally_Strus Users in my company reported the same issue yesterday. Unfortunately I believe it was due to the issues Microsoft had in O365 yesterday because there where also issues with getting the recording uploaded to Stream after the meeting had ended. One user had four recordings done yesterday, one was all good, one did not upload to Stream and two were missing the screen sharing in the recording.

Same issue here. Yesterday, March 19th 2020 screen-share was not recorded at all, even when the screen was shared after the recording was started. Today, March 20th 2020 the screen-share was only recorded when sharing started/changed after the recording was started.

I have made lot's of recordings to already started sessions which had screensharing on before I arrived(joined) and not even 1 of them came out successfully.

 

On the other hand, this way...  it came out fine the first try!

@Sally_Strus I started recording before screen sharing this evening and had the same result as earlier. The recorded video did not contain any shared screen content.

We have had this happen recently, but not with every recording.  We currently suspect that it is when multiple monitors are used:  The person recording is sharing on monitor A, but also has Teams open (to see who is attending/speaking/joining) on monitor B.  Even though monitor A is what is being shared, it is monitor B...the black Teams screen with the icons for the participants...that shows in the recording.

@TSteynBut it is not exactly the same, because while on the monitor B you can see the members of the meeting or the chat, in the recorded video this does not appear, so it is not simply an error related to monitor A or B, but with the content being recorded. Could you verify this?

@miguelgrdotcom In my recorded video the members of the meeting DO show (that is what I meant by the black screen with icons for participants).  The recorded video does not show what was being shared (and viewed) by everyone in the meeting.

@TSteyn   I've had this issue when using multiple monitors (Thursday and Friday while working from the office) and when using a single monitor (Today when teaching from home - post Pennsylvania shutdown mandate).

It seems to be random - sometimes the recording actually captures the shared screen.  I've tried starting the recording before sharing the screen and after sharing the screen.

We have the same issue. Started a team meeting, recorded, started the shared screen after that but still wasn't recording my shared screen. Worked fine last week.

We had the same happen, I started the recording after the presenter started screensharing and for two hours Teams recorded the webcams of random attendees. Not exactly the desired result...

@Jaap Brasser  We are having the same issue. We have tried starting the recording before or after the training without success. We have escalated the issue with the State of Indiana IOT group for help.

We also had just the exact same issue. Really not ideal. Just adding my comment here, hoping that it will help divert some focus to this issue.

 

Looking at how many others suddenly are reporting this issue, I wonder if it is related to the large load put on Stream/Teams these days where a lot more meetings are taking place online rather than IRL.

@James Brennan I experienced the same thing today.  We are all working from home, and I recorded the meeting after the screen share started, and it recorded the 'squares' of people, but not the screen shares, and the voice recorded fine.

 

I did a test later with one other person, and tried starting a recording before the screen share, and tested again afterwards, and both times I successfully recorded the screen share.  So I don't know if it had to do with having more people in the meeting earlier. 

 

It was a critical loss to not have the recording.

@indianamorlock I experience the same random results: either sharing first or recording first, I get both shared screen or Teams arbitrarily.

Unfortunately, the same thing just happened to me...


I did several tests before my webinar that all worked, but now when I watch the prime recording all I can se is the four squares of the latest participants and no presentation. My whole webinar distroyed... :(
Please Microsoft, solve this one quickly!

I faced the problem today as well. Meeting betwee 2.30 to 4 IST. Screenshare was not captured, only the Audio was recorded.

Same problem for us, and embarrassingly it was out first on-line Company Meeting for 75 people.
