Recommendations for Teams Live Events

Copper Contributor

One week ago, we were trying valiantly to do a Live Event using Teams. We thought we had all the bugs worked out, then the last trial effort failed and we had to go to an alternate platform in order to produce the event the next day. Very frustrating.

So--1) What is the optimum recommended hardware and software for producing Teams? I saw on their support page that we need at least Windows 7 or MacOS 10.10. We have those, but what is optimal? See the screenshot.

2) The failure in the last trial was that the remote presenters' microphones would not connect and allow them to speak once admitted. Previously, they had tested their microphones and computers with Teams and everything worked fine.  Any ideas what might have been the problem?

We have another webinar in September and would like to Teams Live Event again. We do have a MS E1 license as well as the Audio Conferencing license.

Thank you in advance for your help!

Hello @Heidi62   Sorry to hear you were having issues getting Live Events up and running.  I presume you have this document and its subsequent related documents (listed within).  https://docs.microsoft.com/en-us/MicrosoftTeams/teams-live-events/set-up-for-teams-live-events

We would recommend that you have the latest version of Windows 10 and use Edge as a browser.

It's hard to say why your speakers were having issues with their mics, especially since they were working at one point.  There are many articles online that talk about troubleshooting microphone issues in Teams (like this one: https://docs.microsoft.com/en-us/microsoftteams/troubleshoot/known-issues/no-audio-when-sharing-cont...) so I don't know which one will help you but I suggest you do your own Bing search.  Oh...and please make sure they're using Teams enabled devices https://www.microsoft.com/en-us/microsoft-365/microsoft-teams/across-devices/devices

Hope these suggestions help.... If not, reply back and we can see if other community members have suggestions.

Hi @Heidi62

Regarding your first issue, you will be fine if you have the minimum system requirements mentioned for Microsoft Teams in Microsoft Docs.

Regarding your second issue there could be several reasons why your presenters' microphones were not working. We have successfully conducted several AGMs for large companies in Sri Lanka via Microsoft Teams. Based on experience I recommend you to test every component of your Live Event setup (webcams, microphones and PCs of presenters and producers) at least 1 hour before going live. In a nutshell your issue needs basic troubleshooting to be fixed.

@ThereseSolimeno Thanks for the links to helpful documents about troubleshooting, also for the tip about using Edge as the browser. . We will start testing again soon.
